I earned my degree in education from Iowa State University, so I am a huge Cyclone fan. I grew up on the south side of Des Moines. I attended McCombs and graduated from Lincoln High School. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and attending my children’s sporting events. My husband Todd and I live in Johnston with our three children, Alex, Taylor, and Connor.
Welcome to the seventh grade! My name is Catrina Gardner, and I teach seventh grade Communication and Advocacy. This is my first year at Brody, and I am very happy to be here! I am an alumna of Grinnell College, where I studied history and education. After graduating, I served in the United States Peace Corps as an education volunteer in Burkina Faso, West Africa for three years. I returned to Iowa in 2014 and began teaching middle school social studies and language arts at the Meskwaki Settlement School. I recently moved to Des Moines to be closer to my fiance and my family. I love teaching global studies and helping young people understand the world around them and how they can make a difference in it. When I’m not in school, I enjoy reading, being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and (for this year) planning a wedding!
