Hundreds of middle school students, along with parents and teachers, gathered at East High’s Williams Stadium yesterday for the annual DMPS Middle School Track & Field Meet. More than 150 middle school students were honored on-stage at North High School for outstanding achievement in a variety of categories. Each DMPS Middle School was represented at the 1st Annual Stellar Awards and each student took home a standing plaque and a book, highlighting the quality recognized that evening. The first annual Des Moines 21st Century Community Learning Centers Makers Convention featured nearly 300 students from 9 schools, including Brody. The students presented their work with food, robotics, photography, music and everything in between. Click on the image to see more photos of the event.
6th Grade Students learned about the systems of the human body. Students were able to identify internal anatomical similarities and differences between the pig and human.
The Rotary Club of Des Moines presented Amelia Kissell with a plaque, $1,000 and a commemorative clock for her hard work and dedication. She was one of four recipients of the club’s “2014 Educator of the Year” award. To read more, click on her picture!
