IB Information

Brody Middle School was authorized as an IB World School in June 2015 for the Middle Years Programme. IB schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Brody Middle School believes is important for our students.

As an IB World School, out student must take a rigorous program of study encompassing eight areas: Language and Literature (language arts), Individuals and Societies (global studies and civics), Mathematics, Science, Arts (visual arts and vocal and instrumental music), Physical and Health Education, Design (Family and Consumer Science and Technology) and Language Acquisition (Spanish) which aligns with the requirements for both high school and college. Although international in scope, IB aligns and utilizes both state of Iowa and national standards.

The IB Mission Statement:

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
