Seventh graders x action + FUN = 700!

As part of the International Baccalaureate mission to instill a sense of “learning into action” as they work towards their eighth grade Community Projects, seventh graders in Ms. Ferguson’s Family and Consumer Science (FCS) classes measured, prepared, baked, cleaned and packaged over 700 dog treats for the Animal Lifeline of Iowa, which were delivered Nov. 22 as a special dog Thanksgiving gift! The dog treats were made from peanut butter and wheat flour, and more than one Brody student commented that they “smelled good enough to eat,” which we’re sure the dogs agreed with. Seventh grader Haley Frost, working in the kitchen to show how it’s done, said “ I love hands-on learning, and it was fun rolling all of the dough into little balls and trying to fit them on the baking sheets!”
